Subject: My Visit to NYC last Friday

So, 20 some days after the attack to New York City and The Pentagon, and two weeks after my trip to NYC (out Thursday back SAT), I have time to hang these pages on the server (it's an amazing thing, sitting on top of a web server). I consider these pages another few hours working for my Uncle Sam . . .

This site doesn't show graphic images from Ground Zero, I didn't get anywhere close to that, gratefully. I worked a 12 hour shift (minus a 2 hour nap after serving up breakfast) at the Red Cross tent in the parking lot of the Javitt's Center. I unloaded trucks, unpacked boxes, and generally helped out and made friends. I went because I'm a veteran, a patriot, and a teacher to my children. Besides, I didn't have to ask my boss if I could go . . .

On the ride there, because of my analytical character flaw, I started counting things, tallying up the trip if you would. Those statistics are here on these pages. Some photo's too, and some other things I acquired that relate to September 11th, 2001.

I'm sure that you can find hundreds web sites devoted to the September 11th catastrophe. The organization or author will probably post what "sells". I'm going to hang pages that represent the patriotic and spiritual proclamation of the nation and her citizens that I witnessed.

I saw loaded trucks that proclaimed with white shoe polish "Texas loves NY". And a caravan from a church in California. And things I never saw before draped over the hood of cars and trucks. Want to know which city had the most flags per block ? Or what the biggest billboard was declaring freedom ? Do you know how far from the city you could smell the carnage ?

This presentation will hang on my server as long as I own one. People will find it, just having the words "SEPTEMBER 11TH" on the page ensures that, real simple. Here, I'm going to ensure it a few more times: 09-11-2001, September 11th, WTC, World Trade Center, terrorists, New York Fire Dept., attack, Afghanistan,Red Cross, fortifying cockpit doors, hijackers, sky marshal, Osama Bin Ladin (sorry, web mastering skills leaked out there). Serving up pages of content on the web isn't hard for me. When you own an internet server, that task is simple.

The hard part will be if the American's spirit doesn't bounce back. It's just a few weeks after the 09-11 events and the stock market crashed a thousand points, nobody is flying, spending or traveling.

The hard part will be if everyone forgets how they pulled together as a "Nation Under God" when they heard of the disaster. A prayer was lifted to God from the USA that day the like of which he probably hadn't heard since WWII.

I just heard the news channel say that church attendance is dropping again. Flags are coming down, patriotic displays painted on cars and trucks and windows are being washed off.

Me, I'm going to continue to go to church, my flag hangs off the porch rail every day. And these pages ? Well, they're my cyber flag wave on the world wide web . . .
