WEB PAGE LAYOUT:

Internet design includes the general format imagery, the "touchy - feelly" part. Do you want industrial design (fastest), roll over map, graphic background image hot spots...do you need commerce or data collection applications...is there a catalog of products to present...?

Consider, having a catalog of thumbnail size images will take a while to download. why not have a directory or contents breakdown, the deeper the visitor clicks down your site, the longer they are willing to wait. By slowing down their progress with delaying graphic materials or web techniques, the visitor might decide it's too much trouble. Speed and ease of navigation are always appreciated, and help create repeat visitors.

Also consider the page layout below. Note the navigation links , bars or graphic image maps that are used to present the viewer with options:

| home page | about us | locations | contacting us | product catalog | ordering |

This frame presents 6 hot links to daughter pages. This "text only" gateway menu is the fastest, easiest to travel navigation tool bar.

THIS GRAPHIC HAS 4 SPOTS THAT BECOME "HOT" IF YOU MOUSE OVER THEM. TRY IT !

THIS IS A BIT SLOWER, AND SOME PEOPLE DON'T SEEM TO "GET IT" SO THEY DON'T CLICK. IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO ALSO PROVIDE A TEXT BAR AS ABOVE TO STIMULATE TRAVEL.

You can also make a portion of your page remain static, that is, it ALWAYS stays put, with everything opening next to or under your "reserved area". These can be confusing and never look the way you intended them to. This type of "static frame layout" is the most expensive type to build (tricky pages are always more expensive than simple pages to build).
