When a web page is designed,
a lot of analysis should go into the site before the first page
is built. Things like page structure and page design dramatically
effect the viewers experience when the visit a site.
Building great pages is real
science. Integrated does a pretty good job . . . but some sites
are just awful, and have no consideration for, ah, aging eyes
. . . .
In college, they used to
teach something called "The LeCour's Color Table of Recognition".
It's obvious that too many people building pages must have skipped
learning that, and I've questioned many graduating Computer Science
students - they don't teach it anymore! . A good page should
be easy to read, easy to navigate, and have a pleasing structure.
Flash and Dazzle have their place, but few web sites need gimmicks,
they really need an adult to review them before they are placed
on the web !
You can change the way your
browser displays text, making the size smaller or larger, defining
a default color combination to use, and how to handle colors
and other graphic representations you see when viewing pages
on the web. Start your browser and look under preferences
or properties.
You may also instruct your
browser to increase or decrease the size or the text you view
on a single page - look under view.
Here's a few samples :
